Really enjoyed getting out to play a gig at the King Arthur, our favourite local venue, on Saturday. Although I’m really focusing on recording at the moment, a change is as good as a rest and it was good to blow away the cobwebs with a bit of live performance. Ed and I were joined by Maya Love of Dragonsfly on Vocals and percussion, Jutta Bannerman, daughter of Alfred Bannerman, guitarist of the seminal African band Osibisa on Keys, and Helen Brock, also lately of Dragonsfly, on fiddle. It seems that Ed and I are getting into a really good flow with the songwriting; we each had a couple of new ones to unveil and they were sounding great with creamy three part harmonies, keys and fiddle. It’s been kind of nice to play our last couple of shows without a drummer too; it’s given us chance to enjoy and explore the subtleties. There’ll be some videos of the performance soon, once they’ve been edited.
